(George) – 12 week stay

Dear Toni

When we started this whole process of finding the perfect dog... we wanted a quiet disposition, well trained for sleeping and potty training, good manners, no barking, jumping etc....I was afraid it was a joke, as all our friends laughed at me.  I was asked what I was looking for, how we lived, how we saw the ideal dog. I was honest with you, but, I honestly thought, there is no way this will ever match.

To our surprise, in trotted George, our amazing Goldendoodle at the age of 4.5 months.  He fit into our home like we wrote the schedule; only it was you that wrote that schedule for him perfectly.  Great disposition, good manners, sleeping right through, knows and obeys all commands, and adjusted to our lifestyle within days of arriving off an international flight that took him 24 hours of travel time, 3 airports, and 3 veterinarians.

Our vet here saw him and said "Only a well adjusted, secure and confident dog could do that trip so easily. He will adjust quickly to your schedule and I believe he will be a fantastic family dog for life." The vet was very impressed and asked to see the schedule that the trainer had George on, with feeding times, potty times, sleeping times, etc...

I am writing this in hopes that more people will understand the unbelievable benefits to having your expertise in the beginning and especially through that rough puppy stage of months 3 and 4.  This wonderful dog came into our lives "ready to go" as my daughter says, and I am so thrilled we were one of the lucky families to be part of Milo's Boot Camp training.  Wow, what a difference month 3 and 4 makes in the training!

Feel free to pass on my name as I would be happy to pass on our good fortune in having George trained at Milo's Boot Camp.

(Sam) – 3 Week Stay

(A post from the Moss Creek Forum)

Well, we picked up Sam from Milo's Boot Camp on Sunday and she has adjusted well to her new home. It's incredible in just three weeks with Toni how much she has learned, especially ringing the bells to go out! She really is a sweet dog and so well behaved. We will post some pics soon...........just wanted to give everyone an update.............

(Rylie) – 2 Week Stay

Rylie went to Boot Camp for 2 wks.  It was hard for us to wait that extra time to get her home, but it was well worth it.  She only had one accident at home and that was totally our fault.  The potty training at Boot Camp helped tremendously.  One of the best things was that Toni made up a schedule for her, based around our schedule at home. So, when she arrived she really fit right into our lives right away. She was totally crate trained and never once got us up in the middle of the night (thanks Toni!)  We didn’t expect that so soon.  She also knew the sit command and has been very well mannered.  She responds well to “leave it” and “no bite” most of the time.  All of this at 10 weeks of age!

This is the fourth dog we’ve had, and the first time we did something like Boot Camp.  It made a huge difference.  Toni was also very much available to us by phone and email to answer questions.  She works hard at this and it really shows.

If we had it to do over again we probably would have let her stay for 4 weeks-it would have been even better.  We highly recommend this-it will make your life easier!

(Grappa) – 6 Week Stay

Toni,

Grappa is just wonderful!

He joined our family seamlessly...he is the best behaved puppy I think I've been in contact. You did a wonderful job training Grappa!  He is so good letting us know he needs to go out (not one accident), understands the basic commands, and sleeps through the night.  I brought him to the vet on Thursday...he checked out fine.  The ladies that work at the vet were asking a lot of questions about the breeder and the trainer of Grappa. I gave them your info and Moss Creek.  They said they are asked often about recommended breeders and trainers that work in conjunction. We have been keeping Grappa pretty much to the schedule and he is so easy to manage. I really can't thank you enough. Certainly, the proof of your hard work is evident in Grappa!!!!

(Jonah) – 4 Week Stay

I have nothing but praise for Toni and Milo’s Boot Camp!  I am a working professional and have always wanted a puppy but didn’t have the time to devote to a puppy.  Milo’s Boot Camp was the perfect solution.  My dog (Jonah) had a month long stay and came home on autopilot; it was fantastic!

Toni trained Jonah around my work schedule so he was totally accustomed to my daily routine from day one.  When it was time for Jonah to come home Toni answered all my questions and sent home instructions which I have found invaluable.  She has also made herself available via phone and e-mail for other questions that have come up since.  She truly has thought of everything and her advice is spot on!

When Jonah arrived he was totally potty trained (rang his bells on the door from day one) and knew a number of commands (sit, down, leave it, no bite, go out).  It has been a cinch teaching him new ones (shake, high five, etc).  I am also amazed by how much respect he has for my personal belongings.  He just knows not to touch things that aren’t his.  When I take him for walks I am always impressed with how well he handles himself.  He is obedient and well mannered around other dogs and the neighbors.  I love that I can let little kids pet him and not have to worry.  The best part of my day is getting to come home and play with Jonah instead of having to work on his manners and discipline.

I would highly recommend Milo’s Boot Camp to anyone considering a Doodle and will absolutely be sending my next Doodle to Milo’s Boot Camp!

(Abby) – 2 ˝ week stay

Toni and Kelli,

After a long flight with some delay, Abby arrived well. She has adapted very quickly, is doing great with her potty training and we all are enjoying having her. Today we took her to the vet and all is well. I want to thank you for the excellent puppy you provided us; she is a nice and calm dog. I will send some pictures soon.

(Madison) – 4 week stay

(A post from the Moss Creek Forum)

Hi Marjorie. In response to your request for a Milo's Boot Camp testimony.

We brought Madison (Mini F1) home from Boot Camp a bit over a week ago, and could not be more pleased. She's 13 weeks old today.

Would 100% recommend it to anyone who's lucky enough to happen into a spot. If that's the case with you, then don't even think twice. Completely potty trained, rings her bells, sits for everything without being asked, rides well in the car. Great about greeting people. Is confident, but still submissive and always looking to me for the right signals. Doesn’t jump, does a "sit" or "down" when the cat comes near, because she was taught to not have "excited" reactions to her environment. Knows "leave it" and "off", and doesn't try to climb on people or furniture, unless she's trying to let me know she needs to go out and I'm not paying attention.

Then there's "no bite". Cute example... I was playing with her in the yard for some exercise yesterday, and she was excited and had her smiling with mouth wide open. Now keep in mind that she's also in the teething stage. Thought I'd do some random training reinforcement/testing before the trick-or-treaters arrive tonight by intentionally sticking my hand into her mouth. Didn't even have time to give a simultaneous command because she just stopped everything, looked up at me, went into a sit, opened her mouth wider, pushed my hand out w/ her tongue and closed the mouth just enough to leave room for "kisses" instead. I'd testify to the "no bark" command factor, but she hasn't really exercised her vocal chords yet.

Madison came home already trained to our schedule, and at the same time extremely ready to adapt to change. Hasn't fussed about being crated. They even got her acclimated to the pool, which I'd specifically mentioned would be extremely helpful to me.

I'm sure it's the tendency of McDoodle puppies anyway, but Madison came to us as a very RESPECTFUL and loving pup.

I could go on, but don't want to tie up the forum server TOO much. LOL Hope this helps and congrats on your upcoming McDoodle pup motherhood.

(Emmitt) – 4 week stay

(A post from the Moss Creek Forum)

Nina -- if you have the opportunity to send your little one to Boot Camp I STRONGLY suggest it. Our Emmitt went to camp and it is the best thing we could have done. He was there for 4 weeks. When we picked him up he was already potty trained to the bells (he has never had an accident in our house), he knew how to SIT, he knew the DOWN command, LEAVE IT, NO BITE, etc. Toni will train your dog according to your schedule and she constantly keeps you updated through e-mails and pictures. You will not regret it. I guess the best advice I can give you is -- sign up now -- the slots fill up fast! =)

(Leo) – 2 week stay

(A post from the Moss Creek Forum)

We have 11-week old Leo. I think he is Maggie's brother (Abigail's red boy). Leo went to Milo's boot camp until August 27th. Toni did a great job. Leo hasn't had one accident yet. He rings the bells if he is in the play area, otherwise he will sit at the front door. Before you throw rotten tomatoes at my screen, Leo isn't perfect. We are working on nipping (he especially likes kid-flavor) and leash walking (he loves air-conditioning). I hope you don't mind the boot camp commercial. Just wanted to pass along how impressed I am with Toni. I am looking forward to keeping up with all of the puppies!

(Harley) – 4 week stay

Toni,

Harley is great. He has not had one accident inside, not one. I am amazed. I don't have to tell him to do a “down” anymore at mealtime, he just does it. I love him; he is so cute and cuddly. The schedule is working great. I have not had any problems with him. My friends all love him and think he is great. He was scared on the 4th of the fireworks, but he got used to them. Right now we are working on keeping him from jumping up on stuff, like the couch. He follows me around the house, it's too cute. He loves squeaky toys. I can't thank you enough. I will send some pictures soon.

Elinor & Harley

Toni,

I have a story about how great of a puppy Harley is. Yesterday I went to a party at a friend’s house, and I brought Harley. My friend has a dog, and their dog is trained to ring the bell. All my friends have been making fun of me because I sent Harley to Boot Camp. After we were at the party for about 30 minutes, Harley walked over to their bell and rang it. I was shocked, and I took him outside and sure enough he went potty. Everyone was so impressed. One of my friends even tried to buy Harley from me. Throughout the night every time Harley had to go outside he rang their bell. Harley is so awesome. Thanks again. Attached are some pics.

(SoBe) – 2 week stay

(A post from the Moss Creek Forum)

I have three year old twin boys! When we heard about Milo's Boot Camp we signed up right away! I was potty training one of my sons and the thought of potty training a puppy at the same was overwhelming! We were so happy with Boot Camp! SoBe came home and only had TWO accidents... and they were my fault - I didn't let him out in time! He loved his crate... slept thru the night with no issues! He learned to sit on command... and the best part for us was that he learned how to interact with kids. Toni had her boys handle SoBe a lot so that he learned nipping, etc wasn't ok.  . If he is chewing something that is not his, he responds to LEAVE IT immediately! He hasn't jumped on the furniture or on us.

We are still working on the other commands... and occasionally he does nip - but all in all - he's a dream!

I highly recommend Milo’s Boot Camp!

(Echo) – 4 Week Stay

My Experience with Milo’s Boot Camp

Let me introduce myself.  I’m a 58 year old professional (very busy) woman who lives alone and who has always had a dog.   My childhood dogs were large; when my children were young we brought a golden home right from her litter; and since I’ve been by myself I’ve had a rescued miniature poodle who had to be put down last summer.  When I was emotionally ready to bring another dog into my home, a goldendoodle was a natural choice.  However, I had done the puppy thing and swore that I didn’t have it in me to do it again.  I still had clear memories of my children eating breakfast sitting on top of the kitchen table to avoid getting their ankles nipped.  Besides, my “life” was outside the home now.  I was just too busy.

Since I work for a non profit, for me to sign up for even 2 weeks of Boot Camp was a huge decision.  When I thought through my goals and shared them with another life time dog lover (I wanted a dog who could be crated all morning, go to work with me in the afternoon, and sometimes be at home, with the help of a neighbor who walks, when I had an evening meeting), she urged me to sign up for 4 weeks.  That just seemed financially out of reach.  What tipped the scale for me was that I needed good manners right from the beginning, and I knew that early training would help insure a lifetime of pleasure and adaptability.  I wanted this dog to be welcome anywhere.

From the website, I knew that I could expect to bring home a dog who understood and followed basic commands, who was potty trained, and who was crate trained.  What I didn’t know was that she would be trained to accommodate my individual schedule, even to the extent of getting her used to being in a “down” while I played the piano and gave lessons in my home.  Here are just a few of the unexpected plusses from those four weeks and what they have meant to me.

  • Crate training means that there is no resistance to the crate.  I can take a shower, unload groceries, or just plain take a break from the constant vigilance necessary when introducing a new pet to one’s home.

  • There is no barking!  I mean none.  Yes, hard to believe.  I almost thought something must be wrong with Echo’s (that’s her name) vocal chords until I heard her woof when playing rambunctiously with a toy.

  • Echo knows how to adapt to me.  She is trainable.  If I am in the bathroom and don’t want her to cross the threshold, she will stay down just outside the door.

  • After Echo had been with me for just 24 hours, I took her to a meeting, tethered her leash to my chair, and never heard from or saw her move in 90 minutes.

  • We have had no accidents! None.

Don’t misunderstand.  I still have a puppy that needs as much watching as a toddler, and she has done her fair share of testing me (as any toddler would).  I did preparation of my own by reading and watching the Puppy/Dog Whisperer, and I had to be willing to firmly establish myself as the leader of the pack.  But what a joy these past two weeks have been.  And what a smooth transition we both have had.

(Elijah) – 2 week stay

(A post taken from the Moss Creek Forum)

We couldn't believe everything he'd learned, when he came home. We've trained a lot of dogs, so we know what puppies his age are capable of, and he definitely exceeded our expectations. He can sit, walk PERFECTLY on lead, he knows to sit when you stop, he knows to sit before getting food, he's trained to use to bells to go outside, and all of his puppy behaviors like nipping, jumping, etc are gone. I was sooo impressed.

We still can't get over how much he learned while at Boot Camp in just two weeks. You can tell how much time Toni took with him. He came home absolutely immaculate and he was such a little gentleman!

Also, we weighed him the other day, and he's up to 12 pounds! Can you believe it?

**Note: Elijah was an older puppy, coming to us at 12 weeks of age to learn manners**

Regarding Milo's Boot Camp, Kelli sent Eli to Toni to work her magic, and SHE DID!!! He was there 2 wks and came home a perfect little gentleman. I was seriously impressed! It is sooo worth it to send them. Toni is amazing. She has patience galore and understanding of these precious babies beyond belief. I have a folder full of her advice that she has shared on this forum and it has helped me even with my grown dogs. You can not go wrong sending your baby to Toni to teach him/her things that will benefit both the puppy (making them happier knowing what is expected of them so they can do it and make their mom and dad happy) and for the families that will be blessed with these wonderful puppies joining their family.

Our Wonderful Experience with Milo’s Boot Camp

Our new addition to the family, Miss Ellie (Annie and Abraham) arrived home a week ago from Milo's Boot Camp where she spent six weeks under the wonderful guidance of Toni. My husband and I are amazed at how well mannered and adjusted Ellie is- especially after watching our friends and family struggle with their dogs trying to teach them manners on their own. Investing in Boot Camp is one of the best things that we have ever done. Our friends and family laughed in disbelief when we first told them about Ellie learning to ring her potty bells to go out until they witnessed it firsthand. In addition, she is fully crate trained, potty trained and displays great socialization skills with other people and dogs. She does not jump on us or others and listens when we give her commands. We couldn't be happier with Ellie and her results from Boot Camp- thanks Toni and family!! Also a special thanks to Kelli for the wonderful job that she does. You really see the difference when you get a puppy from a great breeder like Moss Creek.

Marceita – Florida

(Ruby) – 5 week stay

My goldendoodle-Ruby-attended Milo's Boot Camp and sending her there was one of the best decisions I have ever made.

Training a dog is HARD work.  You MUST have the time to devote to the animal in order to get it to behave the way you want it to.  I have trained golden retrievers before and it took over 6 months to housebreak them and even longer for them to learn to be a "part of the family."  And, that is not including simple commands like "SIT" or "DOWN."  Those commands would not come until a year or so later.  I had always had golden retrievers but after my last one died, I just could not bring myself to get another one. After a short stint with a neurotic Bichon Frise that peed all over my house no matter what I did and bit everyone in the household, I ran across www.mcdoodles.com and found the perfect dog for me. The only problem was I knew I did not have the time to train another dog to be a member of my family.  That is where Toni came to the rescue!

My husband was not too happy about paying for puppy training as he did not think an 8 week puppy could be trained but he took all of his complaints back as soon as we met Ruby at Milo's Boot Camp.  Toni had trained Ruby so well.  Ruby knew to sit when she was told to "SIT."  She knew to lay down when she was told "DOWN."  She knew that as soon as we went outside and said "GO POTTY", she went potty. Our trip home was over 2 hours in a terrible storm.  Not once did she whine or shake.  Once she got home, we took her outside and told her "GO POTTY" and she went.  She slept through the night in her crate the very first night.  She did not make a sound until the next morning.  She knows when it is time to eat and will patiently lay down on the kitchen floor and wait to be fed.  She plays with my 4 year old daughter and became a member of the family instantly. I could not ask for a better trained dog.

Toni sent pictures and updates of Ruby's progress every week.  When my dad had to have emergency heart bypass surgery the day before we were suppose to pick up Ruby, I e-mailed Toni in a panic.  There was no way I could bring Ruby home to the craziness of what was going on.  Toni was fine with keeping Ruby another week and was very supportive to our family.

I have had a few questions since I brought her home and Toni has called me or e-mailed me immediately to tell me exactly what to do.

Milo's Boot Camp is the best thing that was ever invented and Toni ROCKS!!!

(Jeter) – 5 ˝ week stay

Hi Toni,

Jeter has been home for six days now.  He has not had one accident and actually will stop eating his food, run to the door and ring the bells to go out.  He goes potty right away and goes back to eating.  I could not believe it the first time.  He has done that twice.  He never jumps and has perfect manners.  I can't wait to take him to the beach, I just have to wait for a week or so (Parvo).  I know he already learned how to swim from all the pictures you sent me.  I enjoyed getting all the email and picture updates.  The schedule of our daily routine I gave you for crating is perfect.  He does not make a peep in his crate when I am in the room.  I could make noise and he knows it is nap/crate time.  I have pet sit many dogs and have never experienced a dog so well behaved.  My husband and friends thought that we did not need to spend the money for Milo's Boot Camp.  I knew it was going to be the best thing ever, so I did double duty with my pet sitting business to be able to have Jeter attend the boot camp.  He was there for almost six weeks and if you met him you would notice his behavior immediately after how cute he looks.  I am so happy with the results of Milo's Boot Camp and would highly recommend it to anyone who is getting a puppy.

Thank you,

Nilda & Jeter

(Emmitt) 4 week stay

(Allie)  5 ˝ week stay

We have purchased two puppies from Kelli.  Our first, Emmitt (a Caleb and Halle puppy), is now a year and half old and we just picked up our second baby girl, Allie, last week (she is 14 weeks old).  From the day we brought Emmitt home I constantly asked my husband if we could get a second one so Emmitt would have someone to play with.  Finally, he caved in and only had two conditions -- he wanted Caleb to be the daddy, and Allie had to go to Milo's Boot Camp just like Emmitt did.  Problem solved!  We got on the waiting list for a Julia/Caleb puppy and we were lucky enough to get a slot at Milo's Boot Camp.

We were so happy with our first boot camp experience that sending Allie was a no-brainer.  Emmitt attended camp for 4 weeks.  When he came home I could not believe how well mannered he was.  He knew all the commands, SIT, DOWN, LEAVE IT, OFF, etc.  He never had an accident in the house and he slept in his crate through the night without a peep.  It's hard to believe so much time has gone by.  He is all grown up now and he is the most wonderful dog.

Allie has been with us for a week now, and Toni did not disappoint us.  Like Emmitt, she is extremely well-mannered and confident.  She started ringing her bells an hour after we got home -- no accidents in the house.  She knows and obeys all of her commands and is very well socialized.  I take her to work with me in the afternoons (like I did with Emmitt when he was a puppy), and everyone is amazed at how laid back she is.  She is such a joy and a wonderful addition to our family.

Steve and I both work full time, so we knew that we could not devote the time needed to train and socialize a puppy.  I love that Toni trains the puppy to your schedule so when it goes home there is no adjustment period -- everything just falls into place.  She keeps you informed through e-mails and she captures their personalities through the most beautiful pictures ever.  It doesn't end the day you pick your puppy up -- to this day, I still e-mail Toni with questions on how to handle situations that arise with Emmitt.  It has been over a year, and she still answers any questions that I have.  It's nice to know that I can always count on her.  If you are thinking about sending your puppy to Milo’s Boot Camp -- do it!  Take it from me -- you will not regret it!

(Kona) – 4 week stay

Hi Toni,

Thanks for your call!  There is no question that the great foundation you gave her has made a HUGE difference.  We absolutely LOVE Kona.  She is the sweetest puppy; so fun and very well mannered.  She has had only 2 minor accidents.  Both of which were the result of human (my) error.  (I didn’t shut a door I should have.)  She is now sleeping peacefully outside of my office door on the cool tile floor.  This is after having a grand time taking one of her thousands of toys in and out the back door (also next to my office).  She must have done 50 laps in and out with the toy—all at 100 puppy miles an hour.  Her schedule is working well, too.  She is doing good on her walks and is really doing well with sit and down.  We mix it up and sometimes have her do a down before we will pet her when she approaches us.

Everyone in the family loves her and she gets lots of attention and free rides from my teenage girls who love to pick her up and carry her around.

Thanks for helping to make the transition so easy!!

(Lulu)  4 ˝ week stay

(A post taken from the Moss Creek Forum)

I'm not in N. California but I am in KC and did not do a meet and greet before Lulu's arrival. However, I felt totally secure. I spent about a year researching doodles and lurking around the forum. Everyone spoke so highly about Kelli (and Toni) that it was hard to choose anyone else. At one point I considered a labradoodle from California but the more questions I asked the more obvious the McDoodle choice became.

Lulu is only 20 weeks old. She is expected to top out at no more than 40 lbs. Her mom is Lanie and her dad is Isaac so she's an F1B. We had a VERY bad first dog experience so I had to make sure we did not have a repeat. Lulu is the polar opposite of our first dog. She's brilliant, calm, and very easy to live with. Granted she's still a puppy so it's not all perfect but it's just puppy stuff. Kelli made sure that we got the puppy with the best temperament for our family. I'll never forget the day she called to say we were getting the "yellow girl." She was nearly apologetic because my 3 year old daughter had her eye on the pink one (for obvious pink reasons only). She explained that Lulu was a perfect fit for us especially in light of our past negative experiences. She was so right! I tried very hard not to sway Kelli in one direction or the other because it was so important to me to get the right pup for us. I didn't even tell her what I wanted her to look like but it turned out that she looks just like what I had in mind.

We sent her for a four week stay at Milo's Boot Camp (another reason I picked Moss Creek). However, just before she was supposed to come home Toni called and said she wasn't quite ready. She was very close but she was concerned that she might backslide after a weekend of travel. So she stayed an extra four days. It has been so nice to have a "perfect" puppy! People stop me all the time and comment on her manners (and how adorable she is!)

Lulu flew home to us alone and we picked her up at the airport in perfect, happy, healthy condition.

It was a great experience and I'd highly recommend it to anyone. In fact, I'm trying to convince one of my neighbors to get a McDoodle and send it to Milo's Boot Camp. I wouldn't change a thing!

Hope this helps a bit. We're still at the early stages but I can't imagine anything changing down the road.

(Misty) – 4 week stay

If I could Toni, I would be singing your praises from the roof tops. The reason we decided on Boot Camp WAS because we are seasoned dog owners.  Our schedules are crazy, and also because we know what it takes to train a puppy, there was no way I was going through that again.  Dave and I constantly look at her and are amazed how well behaved she is.  She is just a joy and neither one of us can remember when we have enjoyed a puppy as much as we do Misty.  We both know it is because of Boot Camp and all of your hard work with her.  You definitely got her through the tough part.  All of our doggy friends can't believe how good she is.  We have some friends that ask if they can send their older dogs to you.  I could go on and on about how terrific she is, and I thank my stars that you were hooked up to the Moss Creek website.   Of course we still correct Misty, and she has had an accident a couple of times, because she is too busy playing and when she decides she needs to go and paws at  the bells, we can't get to the door quick enough for her.    Toni, she walks so much better on the halter.  We still practice sitting throughout the entire walk.  So now she is constantly looking up at us to make sure she knows where she is going and when she might have to sit.   She also is much better in the car.  She doesn't want to go in, but once she is in she is fine, she is a very quiet and well behaved car rider.

Warmest regards

Diane

Hi Toni,

It has been so long since I've called or written. I hope you and your family are well. We are so happy with our Ms. Molly -- she is the sweetest little girl. She is so polite and listens so well. Her manners are impeccable! You did such a fabulous job with her! Sending Molly to you at Boot Camp was one of the best decisions I've ever made. As you can see from the photos Molly is growing so! All the best to you and your family. I'll give you a call soon.
